Set up Your Office in the Mad River Valley

As someone who, like a lot of us, has been working from home for the past five months, I’ve been learning the importance of changing up my surroundings from the very blue walls of my home “office” and getting outside.

Getting ready for my run the other day, I took one step out of my building and thought to myself, “Dang, Vermont has me feeling really silly for wanting to be lazy today.” The sun was shining perfectly up my driveway through the bright green trees, and a light breeze let me know that a run was exactly what I needed. Nothing really resets the mind like sunshine and mountain air.

One of the many perks of working at Sugarbush is the ability to take a run or two up on the mountain for your lunch break during the winter. And I’m not saying that to rub it in, I’m saying it to let you know that at Sugarbush, we understand the importance of getting outside and treating yourself to some outdoor recreation, whether that be on the weekends or on your lunch break, no matter what season it is. With that said, this summer we’ve been offering the Stay More, Save More lodging package. With working from home being a more popular working situation nowadays, it opens up the ability to work from anywhere, so why not make your remote office a luxurious and comfy condo at the Clay Brook Hotel & Residences? Wake up to views of Lincoln Peak, and have access to wide open spaces and plenty of fresh mountain air for everyone in the Mad River Valley. Doesn’t sound so bad, does it? With this lodging package, the longer you stay with us here at the mountain, the more you save, making it an even easier decision to make a trip to Sugarbush.

While COVID-19 has affected a lot of businesses and activities everywhere, including the Mad River Valley, there is still plenty to do around the area. From hiking to mountain biking, and plenty of places with outdoor dining, it’s the perfect change of pace and road trip destination. Here at the mountain, we’ve been offering trail and e-bike rentals and guided tours, which is a unique way to get out and explore the vast trail network both here on the mountain and down in the Valley. For the golfers, the Sugarbush Resort Golf Club is open daily and is beautiful this time of year. While you’re there, order online and grab a bite to eat from Hogan’s Pub, located in the Club House. Our winter ski trails also provide great hiking in the summer and fall. These trails are beautiful, but can definitely get a little steep, so if you’re looking for a more mellow walk along the Mad River, be sure to check out the Mad River Path trail system. Most of the network is made up of shorter trails, making for the perfect lunch break or afternoon walk with the family.

If you’re looking for a place to grab a delicious meal or on the hunt for refreshing Vermont beer, lots of local favorites are offering take out and outside dining. Lawson’s Finest Liquids recently opened an outside beer garden, perfect for enjoying one of their famous libations surrounded by mountain views out on their patio. Places like Hostel Tevere, Hyde Away, Mad River Barn and Toast & Eggs have both take out and outdoor seating options, and all are close by! For a full list of hours, offerings and restaurants, the Mad River Valley Chamber website is the best place to look.

2020 has presented its fair share of challenges, but it has definitely made me appreciate Vermont a bit more, and we want you to come and enjoy it too. Take advantage of our current lodging deals and start getting excited for winter, but make sure to stay safe and healthy along the way.
